What is Donor IUI?
Donor IUI - intrauterine insemination using donor sperm - is a fertility treatment that places prepared donor sperm directly into the uterus at the time of ovulation, giving it the best possible chance of reaching and fertilising an egg.
How does Donor IUI work?

- You'll take gentle stimulation medication that is tablet based to encourage your body to produce one or two mature eggs. With Kind IUI, there are no injections.
- Once your clinician instructs you, you’ll start at home LH testing to detect your natural ovulation surge.
- Once detected, you will contact us, and your insemination procedure will be scheduled 24-36 hours later.
- On the day of treatment, donor sperm from London Sperm Bank is prepared in our andrology lab and placed directly into the uterus using a fine catheter. The procedure itself takes only a few minutes.
Who is London Sperm Bank?
London Sperm Bank is the UK's leading sperm bank, operating under a full HFEA licence. Their UK-recruited donors are rigorously screened and their sperm meets the highest clinical standards. With London Sperm Bank you have 100% traceability and adherence to family limits through the HFEA national register.
As a Kind iVF partner, we're able to include one vial of donor sperm directly in your package so there's no need to navigate the donor selection process separately before you begin.
Is Donor IUI right for you?

Donor IUI isn't the right fit for everyone - tubal blockages, severe endometriosis or other factors may mean a different treatment suits you better.

How much does Donor IUI cost?
With Kind it’s one price: £3,000. That’s one complete cycle, donor sperm included. No hidden costs.
This cost covers your full treatment cycle from screening tests and medication, through to your early pregnancy scan including one vial of donor sperm from London Sperm Bank. No separate sperm bank fees, shipping delays and no unexpected extras.
In some cases a HyCoSy scan may be recommended before treatment. This is an additional cost and we'll discuss it with you at your fertility health assessment if it applies to you.

Is Kind Donor IUI right for you?
There are three things we look at - your age, BMI, and ovarian reserve - to make sure Kind Donor IUI can give you the best possible chance of success.
Under 37 years old
Our treatment pathway is designed for people who are 36 and under, as they respond best to our Kind approach. You must begin your treatment medications before your 37th birthday to be eligible.
A BMI of 30 or less
BMI is a measure based on height and weight. To proceed to treatment, we require a BMI of 30 or less, as we find people in this range experience fewer complications.
A good ovarian reserve
Your ovarian reserve is an indicator of how your body is likely to respond to fertility treatment. We measure it with a simple AMH blood test. If yours is very high or very low, you may need a more tailored approach and we'll talk you through that at your consultation.

Your Donor IUI questions, answered
No, Reciprocal IVF (sometimes called Shared Motherhood), is a different treatment where one partner provides the eggs and the other carries the pregnancy. Donor IUI uses donor sperm but involves only one partner's body throughout. If you're interested in both partners playing a biological role, take a look at our Kind Reciprocal page.
Through our partnership with London Sperm Bank, you'll have access to their full donor catalogue. You can search by physical characteristics, education, and personal profiles. Their customer service team is on hand to help you find your perfect donor, with a wide range of donors to meet your requirements. We'll be with you through the process and happy to answer any questions as choosing a donor is one of the biggest decisions you'll make, and you won't be doing it alone.
Stimulation medication encourages your body to develop one or two mature follicles, which increases the chance of fertilisation. NICE recommends stimulated donor IUI as a first-line treatment for unexplained infertility, and it's the approach we use for all Kind Donor IUI cycles.
A HyCoSy is a specialised ultrasound procedure that checks whether your fallopian tubes are open which matters for whether IUI is likely to work for you. It isn't included in the package and isn't something everyone needs, but it may be recommended at your fertility health assessment if there's any reason to check. If it is, we'll walk you through what's involved and the cost before anything is booked.
Most IUI cycles run over two to three weeks from the start of stimulation to your pregnancy test. It's a much shorter process than IVF, with fewer appointments and less time away from your normal life.
If you'd prefer to use a sperm bank of your own choosing, take a look at our Kind IUI package instead. It covers the same clinical treatment, with donor sperm sourced and funded independently.
With UK-recruited sperm donors at London Sperm Bank you can be reassured with strict adherence to family limits. In the UK, the HFEA mandates that donors can donate to no more than 10 families. The national register ensures complete traceability, and all donors are ID release, meaning that when the donor conceived child turns 18 they have the legal right to request the donor’s identifying information to learn about their origins. All donors are rigorously screened and counselled in line with HFEA guidance, and altruistically donate. In the UK sperm donors cannot be paid for their donations, they are compensated for their time and expenses only.
