Stimulation medication encourages your body to develop one or two mature follicles, which increases the chance of fertilisation compared to natural cycle IUI.

Andrology is the preparation of the sperm sample before insemination. The process separates the most motile, healthy sperm and concentrates them giving the insemination the best possible chance of success.

While the NICE guidelines recommend IUI as a firstline treatment for endometriosis, at Kind iVF we are only able to accept patients with mild endometriosis. Each endometriosis case is reviewed on an individual basis to assess suitability for Kind. In most cases, if you have moderate or severe endometriosis then Kind IUI is not suitable for you and you may require further support.

Yes. If you're sourcing donor sperm independently - from a UK-licensed sperm bank of your choice - the Kind IUI package covers everything except the cost of the sperm itself. A HyCoSy is a specialised ultrasound scan that checks whether your fallopian tubes are open which matters for whether IUI is likely to work for you. It isn't included in the standard package and isn't something everyone needs, but it may be recommended at your fertility health assessment if there's any reason to check. If it is, we'll walk you through what's involved and the cost before anything is booked.

Most IUI cycles run over two to three weeks from the start of stimulation to your pregnancy test. It's a much shorter process than IVF, with fewer appointments and less time away from your normal life.

There's no single answer that fits everyone, but NICE guidance recommends a course of stimulated IUI - typically up to six cycles for donor IUI and up to three cycles for partner IUI - before considering IVF. That recommendation exists because cumulative success rates improve meaningfully over multiple cycles, and because IUI is less invasive and less costly than IVF at each attempt.

At Kind iVF, we'd encourage you to think about this as a pathway rather than a single decision. If IUI is clinically appropriate for you, starting there gives you a real chance of success while preserving IVF as a next step if you need it rather than going straight to a more intensive treatment when a simpler one may work.

That said, IUI isn't the right starting point for everyone. If there are known factors that make IUI unlikely to succeed, we'll tell you that at your fertility health assessment and recommend the most appropriate route from the outset. We'd rather give you an honest picture early than put you through cycles that aren't right for your situation.

Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS), formerly PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) doesn't automatically rule out IUI, and many people with PMOS go on to have successful treatment. However, because PMOS affects how the ovaries respond to stimulation medication, it does require careful monitoring and in some cases a more tailored approach may be needed.

At Kind iVF, we assess each patient individually. If you have PMOS, your fertility health assessment will give us the information we need to understand how your ovaries are likely to respond to the tablet-based stimulation medication used in Kind IUI cycles. In many cases, IUI remains a suitable and appropriate first step. Where it isn't - or where your clinical picture suggests a different treatment would give you a better chance - we'll be straightforward with you about that and discuss your options.
